The Webster In-Utero Constraint Technique: A Case Series

Abstract

Objective: To describe through a case series presentation the chiropractic care of 6 women with medically-diagnosed breech pregnancies at various weeks of gestation in their third trimester.

Intervention and Outcome: The patients were cared for with the Webster In-Utero Constraint Technique, a site-specific chiropractic technique intended to correct sacral subluxation, remove interference to the nervous system, and balance lumbopelvic biomechanics. This in turn results in the removal of in-utero constraints allowing for the best possible fetal positioning.

Conclusion: This case series alludes to the possibility that correction of sacral subluxation results in the correction of fetal malpresentation and malpositioned during pregnancy. A welcomed sequalae in light of the morbidity and mortality for both mother and child for these types of pregnancy.
