Why Governments are Selling Vitamin D Short

Vitamin D could help millions live longer and be healthier, and yet researchers around the world have been frustrated by their governments' resistance to increasing the recommended daily dosage. US and Canada currently recommend five to ten times LESS than what researchers consider to be levels necessary to attain disease prevention. But governments are resistant to changing regulations because all the recent research notwithstanding, there still has not been a large, randomized controlled trial which can demonstrate beyond a doubt its ability to prevent major diseases. This has not been done primarily from lack of funding; vitamin D is cheap and easy to produce, thus no pharmaceutical company stands to make money by supporting the trials.
