Here's an interesting article reporting on some recent research in Florida, reporting that chiropractic almost doubled the recovery rate at an addiction treatment clinc.
"Jose Mehlman enrolled in the Exodus addiction treatment center as a study participant, he had hit bottom. Years before, he tried treatments that fell into his lap—anything that might help him. But they were 'nowhere near effective.' Today, Mehlman is living a viable, drug-free life. Why was his Exodus experience so successful? New research suggests that breastfeeding helps babies handle stress in a better manner. The study published online by the Archives of Disease in Childhood; found that children who are weaned naturally were less affected by anxiety, as they grew older than children who were given the bottle or formula milk. Exposure to Plastic Chemical in Utero May Lead to Adult Breast Cancer:
BPA is used in the manufacture of polycarbonate plastics for many food and beverage containers, including baby bottles and canned food linings. Dental composites can also contain the chemical. Urine analysis has shown that 95 percent of people have been exposed to BPA. Cough and cold medicines lethal for children:
"After investigating the deaths of three infants between 1 and 6 months of age linked to cough and cold medication use, officials with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are emphasizing that these drugs should be used only after talking with a physician....For each of the three dead infants, a medical examiner or coroner determined that the cough and cold medications were the underlying causes of death...During 2004 and 2005, approximately 1500 children less than 2 years old were treated in US emergency departments for adverse events associated with cough and cold medications."
"In an editorial note, the CDC says controlled trials indicate that cough and cold medications are no more effective than placebo in children younger than 2 years of age.Furthermore, the American College of Chest Physicians in 2006 released clinical practice guidelines for management of cough, advising clinicians to refrain from recommending cough suppressants.Safer and probably more effective treatments for young patients' symptoms include softening nasal secretions with saline nose drops or a cool-mist humidifier, then clearing nasal congestion with a rubber suction bulb."
