CDC Recommends Use of WHO Growth Charts Based on Breastfed Babies!

In September 2010 the CDC made its recommendation that care providers use the World Health Organization’s growth charts which are based on breastfed babies, rather than the previous growth charts based on samples of formula-fed babies. This is important because during the first 3 to 12 months, breastfed babies grow faster, then “lean out,” in comparison to formula-fed babies. The new charts will allow care-providers to more accurately determine the nutritional needs of the infant.
