Hormones in U.S. Beef Linked to Increased Cancer Risks

Beef produced in the United States is heavily contaminated with natural or synthetic sex hormones, which are associated with an increased risk of reproductive and childhood cancers.  The hormones are given to beef cattle during their pre-slaughter fattening period to increase the carcass weight. The hormone residues end up in the meat at rates 20 fold higher than normal, despite claims by the USDA and FDA. “It is well recognized that American women have about a five-fold greater risk of breast cancer than women in countries that do not permit the sale of hormonal beef.”
